(Part 7) Personal highlights: innovation and inspiration

The Last Gadget

Having heard all the stats about children and young people's media literacy (see my blog post part 6), it was time for grown-ups to check how they measured up.

How well equipped are we, adults, parents, guardians, educators and youth workers to support and inspire the…

(Part 6) Personal highlights: stats and safety

Internet - Good Or Bad? I, as many other delegates must have done, first attended the WISE KIDS-WISP conference expecting it to be mainly about internet safety.

A pivotal part of the dicussions did revolve around online safety. But the general consensus was that a safe web environment is only the groundwork, the basic foundation on top of which innovation and inspiration… Continue

(Part 5) Digital and ageless: social reporting and our young reporters

Huw Bryant, Lowri Fflur Davies, Eleri Fflur and Lowri Jos were third year media students from Trinity University College Carmarthen .

The event was heavily child-centred, with young people presenting, answering questions, performing and interviewing each other.

As chairman and MC Alan Davies said, "They are…

(Part 2) The keynote: everything starts with Tanya Byron

Professor Tanya Byron kicked off the WISE KIDS - WISP conference in Swansea with a video-taped Keynote address, as she was unable to attend in person.

Tanya Byron is a clinical psychologist and child therapist, who, in 2007, was commissioned by the Prime Minister to conduct an independent review on inappropriate material for children and young people on the internet…
